An overdue update

Where are you in your life?
For me life has been all over the map. When I started this website I was teaching seventh grade science in my county’s public school system. It was a short-term deal with a one year contract that did not get renewed. After several years working as a truck driver, which was followed by several years working as a chef, I was halfway hoping to make teaching a third and final career. The other half of me, however, wanted to be a full time writer.
When my teaching contract did not get renewed I took some time off to write. Having published Pieces in Time in September 2024, I set a goal to write three books in 2025, or at least get a good run on three big projects.
The first project was to finish a book on weight loss that is centered on principles found in the Bible. I accomplished this goal back in February of this year. The second project was to write a book on the benefits of anger, again centered on principles contained in the Bible. And the third project was to write the sequel to Pieces in Time which I have titled Tyler’s Run. I have written twelve chapters in the book on the benefits of anger, but only two chapters for Tyler’s Run.
While it may look like I have fallen quite short of my goal for this year, I have accomplished one other desired goal and that is to write a proposal and query an agent to represent me and the book on Biblical weight loss. I have strong feelings about the weight loss book, because thanks to bariatric surgery I was able to lose 200 pounds in sixteen months.

I accomplished this feat using principles found in the Bible that can be applied to many areas of life, including weight loss and food addiction. In view of this, the topics I cover range from spiritual transformation, spiritual vision, idolatry, gluttony, addiction, personal submission, and our identity in Christ, among others. While the book can be used by anyone desiring to lose weight, I wrote it with obese Christians in mind as a way to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to submit their lives to God in ways they might not have considered.
Have you tried to lose weight but could not? Have you lost weight only to put the pounds back on? According to my research, eighty percent of people who have tried to lose weight failed to accomplish their weight loss goals. That was the case for me. My weight loss journey started over twenty years before I was finally able to lose weight and keep it off. If you can relate to this you are not alone. Millions of people are fighting the battle of the bulge and falling short. There is hope. Don’t give up.
I have titled the book on Biblical weight loss From Fat to Free: a Biblical guide to weight loss. I could self-publish it today and have it ready for sale in less than a week, but I do not want to go this route. I am going to pursue a traditional publisher because this will be my first full length nonfiction book, and I want you to have the best possible product money can buy. If I have to venture a guess as to when this book will be ready for sale, I would say sometime in late 2026.
Would you read a book like this? Do you know anyone who would? Leave me a comment and let’s talk about our journeys.
